  • Two-page magazine spread targeted to an educated lay-audience

  • Coursework

Ideation:

Collecting photographic references, research, and maquette creation.

Photographic references for the portrait, positioning, and flute.

I sourced public domain assets from NIH3D for the skull and brain, and created a maquette with my desired cross-sections in Maya.

I then overlaid image planes for each level of section to correctly place structures during the drafting process.

Drafting:

Creating initial sketches and iterating with feedback.

Initial portrait sketch.

Draft with whole brain in-situ.

Draft with brain in section, with ear anatomy.

Comprehensive sketch with basic layout.

Final draft.

Rendering:

Creating the final assets.

Portrait with flute and brain in-situ.

Ear anatomy inset.

Brain inset for pathway.

Final:

Composing the final layout for a two-page magazine spread.
